About the Opportunity
BITS Law School, Mumbai invites applications for full-time faculty positions at the levels of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Full Professor in Law and allied disciplines in the Social Sciences and Humanities. We are looking for academically driven and committed educators who are passionate about shaping the future of legal education in India.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach semester-long core and elective courses such as:
Property Law, Family Law, Law of Crimes, Civil Procedure Code, Evidence Law/BSA, Environmental Law, ADR, etc., in B.A./B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programs. - Design new electives and specialization courses tailored to the needs of contemporary legal education.
- Mentor students in coursework, legal research, writing, and tutorials.
- Embrace innovative teaching methods and integrate technology in the classroom.
- Contribute actively to academic planning, curriculum development, and institution-building.
- Maintain academic integrity in assessments, internal evaluations, feedback, and examinations.
- Pursue an independent and impactful research agenda, publishing in reputed peer-reviewed journals.
Required Qualifications
- A consistently strong academic record with an LL.M. degree (minimum 55% or equivalent grade) from a recognized university.
- Preference for candidates with a recently awarded Ph.D. in Law, or those nearing submission, or demonstrating significant progress in an ongoing doctoral program.
- UGC-NET, SLET, or SET qualification is mandatory as per UGC norms.
- Prior teaching experience, supported by student evaluations, is highly desirable.
Preferred Attributes
- A strong publication record in peer-reviewed, indexed journals recognized in the field.
- Prior experience teaching law at reputed national or international institutions.
- Interest in academic project development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and legal scholarship.
