About the Role

Kotak Mahindra Prime Ltd is looking for a seasoned Regional Legal Manager to lead and oversee legal operations related to Loan Against Property (LAP) across multiple regions. This is a strategic role, critical to ensuring regulatory compliance, managing legal risks, and supporting the growth of the LAP business with sound legal guidance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead legal oversight for the Loan Against Property (LAP) portfolio across designated regions.
• Ensure end-to-end compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies applicable to LAP.
• Provide expert legal advice and risk mitigation strategies to the LAP business team.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents related to LAP transactions.
• Collaborate with internal departments and legal teams to align legal strategies with business goals.
• Stay current with legal and regulatory developments impacting LAP and provide timely updates and actions.
• Manage and mentor a team of legal professionals to ensure delivery of high-quality legal support.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to inform business decisions and identify legal opportunities or risks.
• Represent the company in legal proceedings, negotiations, and interactions with regulators or external stakeholders.
• Maintain effective relationships with external counsel and industry experts to enhance legal support capabilities.

Candidate Requirements

• Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution.
• Experience: Minimum 8 years in legal roles, preferably within the financial services or lending domain.
• Proven track record in handling regulatory compliance, contract management, and litigation.
• Strong understanding of legal aspects of secured lending and financial services.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Leadership experience in managing legal teams and coordinating with senior stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and handle pressure.
• Willingness to travel across regions as per business needs.
